IASL is one of the oldest international organizations fighting against liver and biliary tract diseases. It was established in 1958, aiming to train experts in hepatology; encourage basic and clinical research; facilitate internationally the prevention, recognition and treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract.

The International Association for the Study of the Liver (IASL) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to:

  • establish, maintain, sponsor, promote activities, programs, and projects which assist in the education of clinicians and scientists in an international context;

  • foster and promote, within an international context, basic and clinical research into liver and biliary diseases;

  • collaborate with its continental constituent association members, as well as with other healthcare organizations concerned with liver disease; and

  • facilitate progress toward the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract.

Aims

Foster the training of experts in hepatology; encourage basic and clinical research on the liver and its diseases; facilitate internationally the prevention, recognition and treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract.

Activities

Organizes international study groups; encourages exchange of research workers, study materials and information
